Pretending that Everything is OK is Stressful

I see a lot of people moving through daily life like everything is ok. I get it. I mean, what other option do we have? We get up. We put our pants on one leg at a time (or not), we count our belssings, and we do what we gotta do.

But the problem with pretending is that we pay an emotional toll for it.

Instead, why don’t we invite the chaos in?

If going through life is like driving a car, invite the chaos in but put it in the backseat with a seatbelt on. Acknowledge it. Talk with it. We might even let it choose the radio station from time to time when we need an emotional release. But let’s stay in the driver’s seat and let’s keep our eyes on the road.
