Relationships create change. Knowing who plays what roles in the change that we are creating is helpful to articulate. Knowing how and when to engage people in different roles is essential as well.
TEAM: The core team consists of the individuals we communicate with every day or week. We are continually striving to understand stakeholders and regularly building and testing our work with the community to receive feedback. This feedback allows us to reflect, revise, and move the work forward. “Design is never done” is the motto of the core team, at least in the early days.
PARTNERS: We cannot make change without collaborating with partners in the community. They possess deep insights into how change occurs on the ground, day by day. We communicate or work with these individuals weekly or bi-weekly.
ADVISORS: These individuals possess subject matter expertise. We engage with them monthly or quarterly to obtain fresh yet informed feedback on the work.
SPONSORS: Sponsors support the work financially. In their role, they observe patterns that reveal what works and what doesn’t. We check in with them quarterly or bi-annually.
