Your Moment of Obligation

I love this clip of Felicia Hatcher talking about the formation of Code Fever and Black Tech Week which were pivotal in creating a tech ecosystem in Miami that included and supported Black and Brown entrepreneurs. She and her husband leaned into the projects as Echoing Green fellows. In the Echoing Green fellowship, they learned about “Your moment of obligation.”

“Your moment of obligation is when you see something much bigger than yourself and you ask, ‘If not me then who?’ And if you have all the resources or can reach out and touch the resources and you don’t do anything with it, are you ok as a human, as a global citizen, to continue to see that problem fester? And if you can’t live with yourself seeing that problem fester, then that is your moment of obligation to do something about it.”
