My friends and I speak in song all of the time. We’ll either change the words to an existing tune or make up a melody on the spot, “Sung to the tune of…” is a frequent phrase in our group text.
Singing feels different in the body than speaking. It changes something in our brains. As I come close to the end of this “12 Days of Play” mini series, a running theme seems to be that play is anything that helps us shake up our default behavior. Play loosens us up. Play helps us find creative solutions. It helps us be generous with one another.
